1 Day ANDERMATT - OBERWALD 38 km
The Rhone route in fact starts in Andermatt – and climbs up to the top of the Furka pass at an altitude of 2431 m – before dropping down to the traditional beginning of the route at Oberwald. A fi rst day only for our new power category
2 Day OBERWALD - BRIG 42 km
The initial trail is dramatic and varied; the curving sweep of the youthful Rhone, the chocolate brown chalets burnished by the Va lais sun, a magnifi cent panoramic view over the mountains, and the road that descends in great style, giving you a captivating starting point. Tip: Take your bike to the cable car and ride from Mörel to the Aletschgletscher – cycle from 2000 metres above sea level down to the valley (ticket not included).
3 Day BRIG - SION 67 km
The route is fl at and at times runs along the banks of the Rhone River, at others criss-crosses fertile fi elds and pastures. In Sus ten you may board a train (not included) for a few minutes since there is still no adequate bicycle path through the Pfynwald until Sierre. The trail is lined up with fruit plantations and vineyards planted on steep terraces. Tip: take the funicular from Sierre to Crans-Montana and cycle down to the valley taking panoramic views of the Valais Alps.
4 Day SIERRE (SION) - MARTIGNY (MONTHEY) 57 km
Pay a visit to Sion, the pleasant capital of the canton. Embark on this stretch in the morning because a stiff head wind blows quite frequently in the afternoon in the Rhone lowlands as you approach Martigny. 5 Day MARTIGNY (MONTHEY) - MORGES (LAUSANNE) 55 km
From Villeneuve on you will be accompanied by the shimmering surface of Lake Geneva, the panorama of the Savoy Alps, the wineproducing villages of the Lavaux and the «Cote d'Or of Switzerland». How about a visit to famous Château de Chillon on route? Tip: from Vevey to Mont Pélerin by cable car and then downhill to Lausanne. This allows you to avoid the car traffic between Vevey and Lausanne.
6 Day MORGES (LAUSANNE) - NYON (DUILLIER) 25 km
Today you deserve a day of rest and leisure. Enjoy the beauty of the Valais along Lake Geneva. Find a table on a shady restaurant terrace and order fi sh with white wine, a superb choice. Or else visit the Olympic Museum in Lausanne. Tip: From Morges by train to Bière and on regional route no. 50 (panoramic trail!) to Bassins and Coinsins.
7 Day NYON (DUILLIER) - GENÈVE 31 km
The pretty town of Rolle with its trapezeshaped castle compound, a promenade on the old ramparts, the Vieilles Murailles, and a visit to the Musee du Leman in Nyon. A route that meanders through fields, villages and past vineyards.
